Swavesey village is situated on the edge of the fen and has many footpaths leading out into the fen and along the river Great Ouse. Some of the paths are listed here.
Part of the new RSPB Fen Drayton Lakes reserve extends into the parish. This reserve measures about 3 miles by 1 mile and consists of many lakes, created when the gravel extraction pits were landscaped. Access to the reserve is free of charge and dogs are permitted to be taken onto the reserve but in some areas it is requested that they are kept on a lead. The RSPB run regular guided walks (a small fee charged). See the RSPB Fen Drayton Lakes website for more details about the reserve and events.
The towns of Cambridge, St Ives and Huntingdon are all within approx 10 miles where there are facilities to cater for a wide range of activities.
The Swavesey Village website has a List of Places of interest within 40 road miles of here and also a list of Entertainment & Leisure facilities in the area.
